Former housekeeper of Bezos Mercedes Wedaa has claimed she endured “unsafe and unhealthy work conditions” and was subject to racial discrimination by other staff.
Wedaa and other housekeeping staff regularly worked between 10 to 14 hours a day and were denied adequate meal or rest breaks.
Wendaa has filed a lawuit against Bezos that states, “For about 18 months, in order to use a bathroom…housekeepers were forced to climb out the laundry room window to the outside.”
Wedaa filed the lawsuit on Tuesday in King County Superior Court in Seattle where she claimed there was no designated break room or rest area, and no easily accessible bathroom.
The housekeepers were barred from using a toilet in a nearby security room. This resulted in Wedaa and other housekeepers frequently developing urinary tract infections because they “had to spend large parts of their day unable to use the toilet.”
