Kate Hudson Recalls Losing 'Moulin Rouge!' Audition To Nicole Kidman

While appearing on 'The World's First Podcast Thursday,' Kate Hudson opened up on the role she regrets not getting the most.

Kate Hudson told the co-hosts Erin Foster and Sara Foster she auditioned to play Satine in Baz Luhrman's 'Moulin Rouge!

Kate Hudson recalled the audition process as "hardcore," adding that she "just fell so in love" with the Australian filmmaker.

She  recalls , "I was sort of in the auditioning process and then Nicole had a relationship with Baz and wanted to do it," she said. "And so of course, it was like, 'Nicole Kidman's doing it. "

Kate Hudson really wanted the part and was "bummed out" when she didn't get it.

Nicole Kidman went on to star as Satine in Baz Luhrman's 2001 musical 'Moulin Rouge!' alongside Ewan McGregor, who played her love interest, Christian.

Kate Hudson found fame with her breakout role in Cameron Crowe's 'Almost Famous' She played Penny Lane, which earned her an Oscar nomination.

She went on to star in a string of beloved romantic comedies before starring as Birdie, a politically incorrect fashionista in Rian Johnson's 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.'
