King Charles And Queen Camilla Are Finally Crowned!
WRITTEN BY SUMI DEKA
After a long wait and speculations of several months, King Charles and Queen Camilla have been finally crowned and crowds witnessed the event.
Charles was crowned at Westminster Abbey with a ceremonial scepter and rod. While he was sitting on the throne, his son Prince William pledged his loyalty to his father as his heir.
After speaking the words, William stood up, touched the crown, and kissed his father on the cheek. Charles replied “Amen” and “Thank you William.”
The British people were then invited to pledge their loyalty to the king and Charles was looking pensive as the pomp played out around him in the Abbey.
Prince Harry was also present at the occasion, seating in the third row far away from his father Charles, and brother William.
During a ritual, Charles was crowned with St. Edward’s crown just like his mother Queen Elizabeth wore at her 1953 coronation.
Charles and Camilla were taken back to the Westminster Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and they returned to the Buckingham Palace in a ceremonial procession in the Gold State Coach.
A day before the ceremony, Charles met his well-wishers on the Mall. He is the oldest monarch to ever take on the British throne.
