A news anchor was recently taken off air when she began quoting Snoop Dogg during a live TV broadcast. The news comes after another incident involving WLBT’s Barbie Bassett.

During the broadcast, the hosts were discussing about the rapper and musician Cali’s wine range, when the presenters spoke about the idea of a collaboration.

While discussing the topic, Bassett stated, ‘Fo shizzle, my nizzle.” However, the quote began a huge trouble and the broadcast had to be stopped midway.

Nizzle is a slang for the N-word and the saying became popular because of Snoop Dogg and was featured in his 2002 song, Suited ‘n’ Booted.

According to the Clarion Ledger, Bassett is no longer a member of the team and the same was also revealed on the website of the station.

Regional vice president and general manager of the station Ted Fortenberry spoke The New York Post and said that WLBT is unable to comment on personnel matters.

The news led to backlash online and American radio host Charlamagne tha God was the one person who came to the defence of Bassett.

Bassett has been under controversy for a long time until October 2022 where she referred to a Black reporter’s grandmammy while she was on air.
