Popular Celebrities Who Died in Airplane Crashes

Glenn Miller died in 1944 when his military plane fell from the sky. He disappeared when he was off to Paris and there were different theories about the plane being shot or the wings iced over.

Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens died in a plane crash in 1959. The plane took off from Iowa and was off to Fargo. The plane was a victim of bad weather leading to the crash.

Patsy Cline was on a plane that crashed in 1963. The plane took off from Dyersburg, Tennessee, and fell from the sky about 75 miles from Music City.

Jim Reeves was a pilot on a plane. He was accompanied by his manager and the plane had to confront bad weather following which it became disoriented and crashed.

Otis Redding died in 1967 at the age of 26. He was traveling to Madison, Wisconsin and due to bad weather, the plane fell and crashed into Lake Monona.

Jim Croce was on a tour in 1973 and was off to Texas. The plane hit a pecan tree and all six passengers died on spot. The blame was later put on the pilot.

Lynyrd Skynyrd members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines were on a flight to Baton Rouge, Louisiana when their plane met with an accident. 20 passengers were able to survive.

Guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash when it hit a ski mountain in 1990. Further investigations declared pilot error as the reason.
