Rotten Tomatoes Declares 'Top Gun: Maverick' As The Best Film Of 2022

The film review website Rotten Tomatoes have named  'Top Gun: Maverick' as last year's best film.

Made against a budget of $170 million, it made a whopping box-office of  $1.489 billion worldwide. 

The Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel has a 96% certified fresh grade from critics off 464 reviews and a 99% fresh on their audience meter.

The film is a sequel to the 1986 film 'Top Gun' directed by Ridley Scott. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprise their roles in the sequel 'Top Gun: Maverick'.

The film follows the next generation of elite fighter pilots preparing for high-profile missions.

Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell (Tom Cruise) returns as a tactics instructor at the Top Gun academy. 

Its release date of  July 12, 2019, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and complex action sequences.

'Top Gun: Maverick' is nominated for six awards at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
