Serena Williams Talks About Will Smith Oscar Slap

Tennis legend Serena Williams’s life was portrayed on the silver screen with the film ‘King Richard.’

Will Smith, who won an Oscar for playing her dad’s role, was in the news for slapping Chris Rock.

In an interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, the 41-year-old sportsperson finally addressed the incident almost a year later.

King asked her about “that moment at the Oscars.” “I thought it was such an incredible film, and I feel that there was an incredible film after that with Questlove that kind of was overshadowed,” Williams responded.

But I also feel that I’ve been in a position where I’ve been under a lot of pressure and made a tremendous amount of mistakes, and I’m the kind of person that’s like, ‘I’ve been there. I’ve made a mistake.’”

She further added, “We’re all imperfect, and we’re all human, and let’s just be kind to each other. So, that’s often forgotten a lot.”

Smith slapped Rock at the 2022 Oscars after the comedian joked about Jada Pinkett Smith's baldness.

After the incident, the Academy banned Smith for attending any Academy events for 10 years.
