The Story Of Princess Diana's Revenge Dress

WRITTEN BY NISHANT BHISE

Princess Diana gave birth to 'Revenge Dress,' a pop culture moment which will live for posterity.

During the early 1990s, Princess Diana and King Charles III's marriage was going through a rough patch which led to their separation in 1992.

During an interview, King Charles confessed that he was cheating on Princess Diana with Queen Camilla in June 1994.

On the same day, Princess Diana was scheduled to attend Vanity Fair's fundraising gala at the Serpentine Gallery.

Despite her husband's confession, Diana decided to face the world in the most sultriest manner!

Diana wore an off-shoulder Christina Stambolian dress with a deep V-neckline with a sheer scarf around her waist like a train. It was a short and sultry chiffon dress.

She accessorized the dress with a pearl necklace with a sapphire brooch that Elizabeth II gave her as her wedding gift.

Later, she auctioned the dress at Christie's in New York for $65,000 to raise fund for AIDS trust and the Royal Marsden Hospital's Cancer Fund.
