Who Was Anthony Bourdain?

Anthony Bourdain was a celebrity chef, author, and travel documentarian. He was known for his shows focusing on the exploration of international culture via their cuisine.

Apart from hosting, Bourdain also wrote several cookbooks, as well as fiction and historical nonfiction. On June 8, 2018, Bourdain died by suicide while on location in France, filming for ‘Parts Unknown.’

A new unauthorized biography on Bourdain titled ‘Down and Out in Paradise: The Life of Anthony Bourdain’ has shed light on the last few days of the celebrity chef.

The book mentions the text Bourdain wrote to his estranged wife Ottavia Busia-Bourdain. “I hate my fans, too. I hate being famous. I hate my job,” he wrote. One of the texts read, “I am lonely and living in constant uncertainty.” They remained a close confidants even after their separation in 2016.

He also texted his wife at that time, Asia Argento. “I am okay,” Bourdain texted . “I am not spiteful. I am not jealous that you have been with another man. I do not own you. You are free. As I said. As I promised. As I truly meant. But you were careless. You were reckless with my heart. My life.”
