Leslie Phillips was an English actor, voice artist and author. He achieved prominence in the 50s, especially for utilizing his catchphrases “Ding Dong” and “He-llo”.
He was most known for his ‘Carry On’ films. Leslie Phillips appeared in three Carry On films, ‘Carry On Nurse,’ Carry On Teacher’ and ‘Carry On Constable’.
Leslie Phillips was also cast in the Harry Potter movies as the voice of the Sorting Hat. He was a part of ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part two.’
Phillips was a prominent face on television in the UK. He made his small screen debut in 1948. His last appearance on tv was in the last two episodes of the show ‘Harley Street.’
Phillips was married thrice, among whom his first wife was actress Penelope Bartley. They got separated in 1965 after being married for 17 years. The couple had four children together.
