Why Did The Makers of 'Shazam: Fury Of The Gods' Recast Mary Bromfield?

The makers of 'Shazam: Fury Of The Gods' decided to cast Grace Caroline Currey as both young and adult Mary Bromfield.

Earlier, Michelle Borth played the adult superhero Mary in the 2019 film 'Shazam!'.

Grace Caroline Currey explains, "It works for Mary because she's the oldest of the foster kids, and I was already an adult when we shot the first one as well."

'Shazam: Fury Of The Gods' director David F. Sandberg is down to make a spin-off about Mary and his solo adventures.

The director told Comicbook.com in a roundtable interview about his interest in exploring Mary's story, saying she's the "obvious" choice for a spin-off.

Grace Caroline Currey  told  Popculture.com she had a wonderful time playing Mary in both 'Shazam' movies and would love to play her again.

She sees infinite possibilities for her character as she puts it out in the universe to manifest, "I'm in, where do we sign up? How do we make it happen?"

However, due to the underwhelming performance of 'Shazam: Fury Of The Gods' at the box office, it's unlikely that the spin-off will see the light of day.
