Tom Holland is no stranger to working on some of the biggest movies of his generation. From swinging through the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Spider-Man to starring in ambitious projects like ‘Cherry’ and ‘The Devil all the time’, he’s built a career defined by high expectations.
Yet, the actor insists that nothing compares to the experience of working with Christopher Nolan on the director’s upcoming epic, ‘The Odyssey’. Adapted from Homer’s legendary Greek poem, Nolan’s film is set to hit theaters on July 17, 2026. For Holland, who plays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, the experience has been nothing short of life-changing.
Tom Holland Claims ‘The Odyssey’ Will Be “Unlike Anything We’ve Ever Seen”

In a recent interview with Agence France-Presse, Holland described ‘The Odyssey‘ in glowing terms, calling the screenplay “the best script I’ve ever read.” That’s high praise coming from someone who has been handed some of the biggest roles in Hollywood in recent years. “Chris is a real collaborator,” Holland said. “He knows what he wants… But it is not an environment where you can’t pitch ideas or build characters in certain ways.”

The actor emphasized that despite Nolan’s reputation as a visionary filmmaker with meticulous attention to detail, he still leaves room for actors to contribute to the creative process. The film sees Matt Damon stepping into the role of Odysseus, with Holland portraying his son Telemachus. Holland suggested that his work with Damon, under Nolan’s direction, gave him a chance to explore themes of family, identity, and resilience on a scale he’s never experienced before.
Holland’s admiration for the project isn’t new. Back in July, in a conversation with GQ Sports, he had already hinted at the film’s profound impact on him. He called it “the job of a lifetime” and “the best experience I’ve had on a film set. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” he said.
Tom Holland Addresses His Marvel Future After ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Even while Holland celebrates his work with Nolan, questions about his Marvel future remain front and center. After the record-shattering success of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in 2021, fans have eagerly awaited updates about Peter Parker’s next chapter. That wait is nearly over, as Holland is already filming ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, set to release in 2026.

The film will serve as the final MCU movie before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. So, it carries major weight for the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. Whether Holland’s Spider-Man will appear in those crossover blockbusters is still uncertain, but speculation is running wild. In a recent interview with LADbible, Holland was candid about how he views his MCU future.
“I think with anything, it’s all about what’s in front of you, and right now what’s in front of us is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and focusing on making that movie worthy of the last film,” he said. The actor explained that he’s been actively engaging with fans online to understand what audiences want. “That’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings. I think the producers, at times, were like, absolutely sick of me, but I think it’s really important, because we make these movies for [the fans].”
As for whether he’ll continue as Spider-Man beyond ‘Brand New Day’, Holland admitted: “I don’t know the answer to that.” Interestingly, Holland also revealed he has also been closely involved in designing his newest Spider-Man suit for the film. However, he didn’t confirm which comics inspired the design. “What’s been really fun about this most recent movie is designing the suit and being a part of that process and understanding what we wanted to try and achieve.”
