The 12 Kizuki or the 12 moons, in ‘Demon Slayer,’ are the strongest demons in Kibutsuji Muzan’s arsenal. These demons have received more of Muzan’s blood than any other demons. Their appetite to consume humans is also greater than other demons. The moons are divided into two parts; the lower moons and the upper moons. Each category has been numbered from one to six with one being the strongest.
The 6 upper moons far surpass the loser 6. The upper moons also despise the lower 6, which has been stated by Muzan himself. The 6 upper moons have not been replaced in over a hundred years whilst the lower moons have been replaced quite a few times. As shown in the Kimetsu No Yaiba manga, Muzan felt no need to keep the lower moons after a while and he annihilated them except the lower moon one. Here are the 12 moons of Kibutsuji Muzan

12 Kizukis Or Demons In ‘Demon Slayer’
Lower Moon 6 ) Kamanue
Initially, Kyogai, the primary adversary of the Tsuzumi mansion storyline, held this post. After his defeat, Muzan excommunicated him, claiming that he was not powerful enough to be one of the 12 kizuki in demon slayer.
Kyogai’s body included several drums that, when touched, changed his environment. Kamanue later took over the post after Kyogai. Little is known about Kamanue, other than the fact that Muzan devoured the wretched demon as soon as he heard its thoughts.
Kamanue’s strength and prowess as a Demon were not well known, although it is safe to presume that he was more powerful than Kyogai, the former member of the Twelve Kizuki whose seat he took.
Lower Moon 5 Rui
Of the 12 kizuki in Demon Slayer, Rui is the only lower moon demon who has had screen time for a complete episode. Rui was a small, feeble youngster when he was a human, a boy of tiny stature when Muzan changed him.
Rui used his blood to transform other demons into creatures who shared his fixation with starting a family. Only Rui displayed a talent. The obsession with starting a family is probably a result of his guilt about killing his parents.
Among the 12 kizuki of demon slayer, Rui is incredibly strong in the blood demon skills. Rui can also use cell manipulation to alter the physical appearance of demons that ingested his blood. His main power is his spider webs which are so strong that even a nichirn sword cannot cut through them.
Lower Moon 4 Mukago
One of the mysterious 12 kizuki from Demon Slayer. The potential of Mukago’s persona was never revealed to the public. The demon was eliminated by Muzan in the Mugen train arc together with other lower moon monsters. Mukago had horns sticking out from the front of her forehead and was diminutive.
Lower Moon 3 Wakuraba
Wakuraba, one of the 12 kizuki demon, was the most devoted of the lower moon demons. He was shown to have increased speed in what little of Wakuraba’s Mugen train arc we saw. When he attempted to flee from Muzan after witnessing his fellow lower moon demons being slaughtered, he was quickly taken prisoner and executed by the demon king.
Lower Moon 2 Rokuro
Rokuro joined the 12 kizuki in demon slayer after lower moon 2 – Hairo was eliminated in the first round. Regarding the replacement Rokuro, not much is known about the demon and his prowess. The monster was, nevertheless, momentarily visible in the Mugen train arc. Rokuro asked Muzan to give him more blood during his screen time so he could become stronger. The order infuriated Muzan, therefore he decided to eliminate Rokuro.
Lower Moon 1 Enmu
Enmu was the last survivor when Muzan massacred the lower moon demons. “Kill the demon slayer wearing the hanafuda earrings,” the demon king Muzan instructed Enmu when he handed him Tanjiro’s blood to find and kill him. He attempted to do this by combining his body with a train and attempting to kill the Demon Slayers inside of it.
His attempt to manipulate Tanjiro’s dreams finally failed since Tanjiro’s mental toughness was more potent than his Blood Demon Art. With the demon bemoaning his futility before vanishing, it demonstrated why Enmu had no place among Muzan.
Upper Moon 6 Daki And Gyutaro
Gyutaro and Daki posed a twin menace during the Entertainment District arc, which the Sound Hashira had to face alongside Tanjiro and his pals. Daki can use her blood to move her sash around. Although it doesn’t sound particularly potent, her Obi sash’s unexpected sharpness is what made her such a serious menace in combat.
In the Twelve Kizuki, Gyutaro shared the rank of Upper Rank 6 with Daki. Gyotaro demonstrates the effectiveness of his Blood Demon Art during his battle with the Sound Hashira and Tanjiro, despite its seeming simplicity.
Upper Moon 5 Gyokko
Gyokko is the most egotistical of the 12 kizuki in Demon Slayer; while all demons are bad, this one tops the list for being the most sadistic. The demon is also enamored with arts and crafts and gets irate when someone doesn’t like his self-styled artwork.
Gyokko is shown as having a superficial demeanor and being envious of people, especially those who devote themselves to their art with greater fervor than the demon. One may say that Gyokko had the dullest Blood Demon Art of all the Upper-Rank demons in the Twelve Kizuki. Gyokko’s ability to summon pots seems somewhat out of place given the amazing quality of the companions’ skills all around him.
Upper Moon 4 Hantengu
Hantengu uses his strong emotions as a weapon in his incredibly intriguing Blood Demon Art. Hantengu can create a younger clone that personifies a specific feeling by projecting it.
His abilities allow for a very captivating encounter against a squad of formidable Demon Slayers. But Tanjiro’s mastery of the Hinokami Kagura proves to be far too much for him to handle.
Upper Moon 3 Akaza
It was evident from Akaza’s appearance in Demon Slayer: Mugen Train that his power was unmatched. His close-range combat abilities appear to be unmatched, and they are strengthened even more by his Blood Demon Art.
All of his blows are highly lethal since he may unleash fatal shockwaves with every move. Akaza is one of the series’ most potent demons thanks to this and his speed.
Upper Moon 2 Doma
Doma, the most charismatic and second-most powerful of the 12 kizuki, is also quite possibly the most sadistic of the 12 demon moons in Demon Slayer. Doma is one of those demons who has no capacity for empathy, making him a potentially harmful adversary. In the course of the demon slayer’s tale, Doma has gorged on several gorgeous ladies, making him both callous and indifferent.
Doma’s main method of attack in the blood demon art is cryokinesis. The demon only needs his kyosensu to produce ice (Japanese folding fans). In addition, Doma can create ice using his blood and flesh, much like Nezuko can create fire using her blood.
Upper Moon 1 Kokushibou
In addition to holding the topmost rank in the 12 kizuki, Kokushibou is also the twin brother of the famed Sun-breathing user Yoriichi Tsugikuni. He is also the first person to use sun breathing, making him unquestionably the most potent demon slayer in the narrative.
It’s interesting to learn that Kokushibou, then Michikatsu Tsukiguni, was envious of Yoriichi, his younger twin brother, for having a natural gift and skill for slaying demons. Kokushibou is the most dreaded of the 12 kizuki in Demon Slayer because of his usage of the moon breathing method when a demon.
