History Of Chakra
Before the birth of Hagoromo and Hamura Otsutsuki, Chakra did not exist on Earth. Because their mother consumed the Chakra fruit from the God tree, they were born with it. With the help of a technique called Nishu, Hagoromo shared his Chakra with others to foster peace by enabling people to communicate with one another without words.
Sadly, the people’s usage of Chakra fell short of Hagoromo’s expectations. They used it as a weapon and created what is now known as ninjutsu rather than interacting with others.
Chakra Natures
There are five basic types of Chakra in nature and the rest are a combination of those five.
The five basic types are – Fire(Katon), Wind(Futon), Lightning(Raiton), Earth(Mokuton), and Water(Suiton).
Each of these Chakra natures represents the five elements. Whenever a person applies any of these Chakra natures to their Jutsu, it changes the properties of the Chakra. For instance, when Naruto applied Futon to Rasengan, it changed the Jutsu’s properties and turned it into Rasen-shuriken.
Each of these natures is stronger and weaker than one other nature. Fire is more potent than wind but is more fragile than water.
Every person is born with an affinity to a specific element; sometimes they could have an affinity for two elements. For example, Sasuke had an affinity for both wind and fire. This affinity can be familial; most members of the Uchiha family had an affinity for fire. People can master the different affinities as well and in some rare cases, master all five.
All other natures of Chakra are derived from these five. Wood is a combination of water and earth, ice is a combination of water and wind.
There is also the yin and yang which is the basis of all elemental Chakra. There are many Jutsu that is derived from these two types, medical ninjutsu, shadow ninjutsu, and even genjutsu. A person who masters both yin and yang release can do many things such as reversing the negative effects of opening the eighth gate. These are the basic Chakra natures in Naruto.
