Based on his reaction to winning a Critics Choice Award, it’s clear that Ryan Gosling didn’t expect Ken to go as big as it actually did. After his song rose in popularity, fans were quick to speculate if the actor would perform at the Oscars.

Talking about the possibility of performing, he earlier said, “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it.”

Though his performance was confirmed later on, it was still unclear what new twist he would bring to his performance, but Academy Award Producer Raj Kapoor gave fans a brief idea of what the Oscars have in store for the performance.

He revealed that Gosling would be accompanied by 65 backup dancers, making it “one of the biggest Best Song numbers ever performed on the Oscars.”

He then added, “It’s going to be a very big performance. You’ll see that. It is in rehearsal. I was down there yesterday, and there’s a lot of fun to be had when you watch this number, but yeah, I think we’re going big. I’ll say that. We’re going big.”

It could be said that the success of ‘Barbie‘ was highly anticipated and expected, but Gosling’s success with his supporting acting of Ken came as a surprise.

Initially, the actor was criticized for taking up the role, with many complaining that he looked “too old” to play Ken. Cut to the movies, he ended up being one of the best things about the film.

So far Gosling has been nominated and has swept off a couple of ‘Best Supporting Actor’ nominations and a few unexpected ‘Best Original Song’ awards as well. As for the Oscars, he is nominated for both categories.

As of now, fans are anticipating his epic performance of the song on stage.

The Oscars are taking place on 10th March 2024.
