Seyfried ended up writing, “He was hateful” in the comments. But she didn’t stop there. She also appeared to comment on Kirk’s death through her Instagram Stories. She shared a post that read, “You can’t invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating.”
As expected, the remark of the ‘Mamma Mia!‘ star has upset many people, who accused her of showing no compassion after his death. The criticism piled up quickly, and things got so out of hand that she had to post again to clarify the situation.
Seyfried Explains Her Point Of View
In her note, Seyfried said people often forget that humanity is complicated. She stressed over the fact that she could be angry about misogyny and racist language, but at the same time, believe Kirk’s killing was disturbing and unacceptable in every way. In no way was she talking in support of the violence that Kirk had to fall into.
Seyfried went ahead and said that America was already grieving too many shootings and senseless deaths. She concluded by urging people to at least agree on that much, even if they disagreed on other issues.
However, Seyfried was not the only one to fall into the trap of criticism while talking about Charlie Kirk. Since Kirk’s assassination on September 10, 2025, when he was shot mid-speech, many celebrities have become a part of this controversy.
Reactions By Other Celebs
Charlie Sheen has recently opened up about his reaction mid-interview regarding the shocking assassination of Kirk in an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored. Sheen’s reaction in the interview was quite shocking, as expected, and he couldn’t put his feelings into words about how he felt about Kirk’s family. Nothing political passed his mind first other than Kirk’s fatherless children and widow. He later called it “this generation’s JFK moment.”
While Charlie Sheen reflected on society and how violence has taken over us, Jimmy Kimmel’s controversy got out of hand. ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show after he made remarks about Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk. The decision caused its own wave of backlash. While some said that the network went too far, others argued it was the right move.
