Andrew Garfield Pulls Off A Hilarious Move With Florence Pugh’s Cardboard Cut-Out At ‘We Live In Time’ Premiere

Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh have been busy promoting their upcoming film ‘We Live In Time, but for the film’s premiere, the actor was seemingly not accompanied by his lady co-star. While Garfield was the man of the hour at the premiere of the film at the London Film Festival, his co-star Florence Pugh stole the show without actually being there.

Pugh was tied up elsewhere on a shooting schedule, but Garfield wasn’t the one to back down and go to the premiere alone. So he brought a life-sized cutout of his on-screen partner along for the ride to keep him company at the film festival. Here’s how it went.

Florence Pugh has been touring to promote her film ‘We Live In Time‘ with co-star Andrew Garfield. But she had to skip Thursday night’s red carpet for the London premiere. However, Garfield was quite ready for the selling of the film with a good dose of humor as he posed with the 2D version of the co-star.

Unsurprisingly, it drew quite a few laughs from the viewers as paparazzi rushed to capture Garfield with the hilarious replacement of his co-star. The film ‘We Live In Time‘ reunites Garfield with director John Crowley, after their first collaboration on ‘Boy A‘ 17 years ago.

Pugh plays Almut’s character, a young chef struggling who gets diagnosed with ovarian cancer while Garfield plays her husband Tobias, a marketing executive. The couple’s future takes a turn for the worse when Almut’s cancer resurges. Heavy as the storyline may be, the film has been described by some critics as “life-affirming,” with Garfield and Pugh’s undeniable chemistry giving it heart.

Despite its poignant themes, opinions on the film are divided. While it received praise from ‘The Hollywood Reporter‘ as having a “tender yet truthful touch,” Mashable didn’t hesitate to call it “the biggest cinema disappointment of the year.” Love it or hate it, Garfield and Pugh definitely left no stone unturned for it.

There is also an emotional scene in which Tobias and their daughter help shave off Almut’s hair — for which Pugh actually shaved off her head instead of using prosthetics. This was the time when she went viral for the bold move.

Asked to comment on that experience, Pugh said, “It was totally important that you see her head and we see her shaving it. It was just always a no-brainer.” Garfield also jokingly admitted he was nervous. “What if I somehow destroyed the head of one of the best actors of her generation?” he said.

We Live In Time‘ offers up plenty of emotional highs and lows — perhaps as bittersweet as the fact that, even when she’s not there, Florence Pugh still manages to steal the spotlight.
