The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor talked about how Downey supported him during his healing journey, while also touching on rumours that RDJ actually paid for Hammer’s rehab. Here’s what he said.
Did Robert Downey Jr Pay For Armie Hammer’s Rehab?
After Armie Hammer faced the wrath of the public and media following his sexual assault and cannibalism scandals, the actor was constantly scrutinised by the media- something that also had an effect on his children. During that time it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr had stepped up to help him, and even went as far as to get his children a place to crash. There were also reports that Downey paid for his rehab.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Armie debunked these rumours as false and cleared the air. When asked if Robert paid for his rehab, he said, “No, he did not. He did not pay for me to go to rehab.”
He added, “I don’t want to bring anyone else into my situation. There are a number of people who have been extremely helpful, and I’m incredibly grateful.”
The actor also praised Downey for his support and said, “ He helped in the way where anyone in Hollywood who suffers from any sort of addiction issues — whether it be alcohol or process addiction or drugs — decides to get sober, that guy will find you, and he will help you. It’s amazing.”

What Were The Allegations Against Armie Hammer?
Hammer’s accusers came forward with harrowing accounts of his alleged behaviour, including a woman who claims he raped her in 2017. Others have described incidents of emotional manipulation, coercion, and even fetishistic fantasies involving cannibalism.
The actor has vehemently denied all allegations, dismissing them as “vicious and spurious attacks.” While the incident led to him getting cancelled and losing almost all of his projects, he has ensured his healing and getting a better journey. Moreover, he claimed he deeply regrets the incidents and acknowledges how grateful he is for being held accountable for his actions.
