‘Call Me By Your Name‘ star Armie Hammer celebrated his 38th birthday this year. While Hollywood has a trend of making big deals out of birthdays with gifts showered in for celebrities, the gift Hammer received from his mother is far from something he would show off.
In an odd gesture, the actor’s mother gifted him a vasectomy. Yes, you read that right! The actor bared all on the latest episode of ‘The Armie HammerTime Podcast‘, as he revealed how the procedure became his unique birthday present. Here’s what he said.
Armie Hammer’s Mother Reveals The Thought Behind Gifting Him A Vasectomy On His Birthday
Armie Hammer invited his mother Dru on the Monday episode of ‘The Armie HammerTime Podcast‘ wherein she explained how the idea of gifting him a vasectomy came about. “I call Armie and I go, ‘Armie, what do you want for your birthday this year?’ And he goes, ‘I don’t know, maybe money. Whatever.’ And I was like, ‘I think I’m gonna give you a vasectomy,'” she said.
Hammer recalled visiting his doctor to schedule the procedure and was asked by the doctor if he was really serious about it. “He was like, ‘Are you sure you wanna do this?’ I’m like, ‘I have two beautiful kids. I don’t want any more kids. I’m good to go,’” he replied, referring to the daughter and son he shares with ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers as complete.
The weird part came at the end when Hammer told the receptionist that his mom was going to pay for it. “She was looking down and she [looked up] and goes, ‘What?’ And I go, ‘Yes, my mother gave me this as a birthday present,'” he said, noting the receptionist’s surprise.
“It just was one of those things like you could tell she was hearing something and like, ‘I’ve never heard — what are you talking about?’ So yeah, my mom got me a vasectomy for my birthday,” the actor said.
