Although Keoghan makes a constant effort to distance himself from social media, he admitted, “I remove myself from online, but I’m still a human being that’s curious,” acknowledging that staying completely disconnected isn’t easy. He pointed out that there is a “lot of hate online,” before getting more specific about the nature of it.

There’s a lot of abuse of how I look, and it’s kind of past the point of…you know, everyone goes through that… but it’s made me shy away,” he added. He made it clear just how deeply this has affected him, adding, “It’s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside.”

This isn’t the first time Keoghan has addressed such behaviour. Back in 2024, after his breakup with Sabrina Carpenter, he described the fan reactions as “disgusting“. Keoghan also reflected on how this wave of online criticism could impact his personal life, especially as a father.

Keoghan also admitted that the impact of this negativity is beginning to creep into his work, something that worries him deeply as an actor. “When that starts leaking into your art, it becomes a problem,” he said. He went on to add that it can reach a point “because then you don’t want to even be on screen anymore.”

At the same time, he admitted that it is disappointing to think his young son might one day come across these hurtful comments. Right now, he is trying his best not to pay much attention to the negativity and focus on his career.
