One question that is most important for DC fans right now is, “Will Henry Cavill return to play Superman again?” The actor, who was once a mega presence in DCEU, has been a no-show in their movies lately. Recently, there were rumors that he might wear the Superman costume once again.
Fans obviously were very excited about the news. Jaume Collet-Serra, the director of ‘Black Adam’ addressed these rumors at Comic-Con. So, what did Jaume say about the future of Superman?

Director, Jaume Clears That Henry Cavill’s Superman Doesn’t Have A Cameo In ‘Black Adam’
In an interview with Deadline at San Diego Comic-Con, ‘Black Adam‘ director Jaume Collet-Serra talked about the upcoming film. He even cleared all the rumors about Shazam and Superman potentially appearing in the film.
The director noted that in the comics, “Black Adam was rooted in family and what happened to him,” and how “there’s an emotional story at the core of it all.”
But when it comes to Zachary Levi’s ‘Shazam’ and Henry Cavil’s ‘Superman,’ Collet-Serra pointed out that: “[their] movie is an original story… “by the time the movie ends, [Black Adam] doesn’t know who Shazam or Superman is… he’s figuring that out [that the world is filled with superheroes… he has to adapt to why he is here, [and]what the world is about.”
He then began talking about his new star Dwayne Johnson. The director said, “He has such a presence… Black Adam doesn’t speak a lot which allows him to tap into different resources… he can let his presence permeate in a scene in such a way versus other roles where he has had more interaction with people… you can tell he’s comfortable in the role… the moment he walks on set, it’s like a boxer walking into the arena.”
Henry Cavill Wants A ‘Superman’ Sequel
Even after all the hype, Henry Cavill was a no-show at the event. The actor started his journey with DC by debuting as Superman in 2013’s ‘Man of Steel’. Taking into consideration Snyder’s ‘Justice League,’ Cavill has made four appearances as the Kryptonian superhero in the DC Extended Universe. (Superman did a cameo in ‘Shazam!,’ but was portrayed by a body double).
Although Cavill has expressed interest over the years in returning for ‘Man of Steel 2,’ following the release of ‘Justice League’s’ theatrical cut in late 2017, it appears Warner Bros. has no interest in making a Superman sequel. Since then, there have been reports of producer J.J. Abrams and writer Ta-Nehisi Coates putting together a Superman film reboot, and that Michael B. Jordan is developing an HBO Max series focusing on the Val-Zod incarnation of Superman but nothing is official yet.
