Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie parted ways on bitter terms and it seems there’s still animosity between the two. Recently, Pitt accused Jolie of harming the wine business that they co-owned previously by selling her stake to a “stranger with poisonous associations and intentions.” He said the actress did so intentionally.
Brad Pitt Accuses Angelina Jolie Of Intentionally ‘Inflicting Harm’ On Him
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were a power couple and fans loved to see them together. However, they parted ways in 2016 after two years of marriage. The separation was painful and the actors got involved in a war of words. Now, Pitt has accused Jolie of damaging the reputation of his vineyard by selling her half to a “stranger”. They had bought a controlling stake in the South of France vineyard and home Château Miraval in 2008. They exchanged vows at the beautiful place in 2014.
Now, Jolie has sold her stake of Miraval, which, according to Pitt, was her attempt to “inflict harm on” him. The actor said that they had agreed to never sell their stakes in the family business without the other’s consent.
Brad Pitt filed a legal document about this at Los Angeles County Superior Court. People reported the contents of the document which read, “Miraval became his ‘passion’ project that grew ‘into a multimillion-dollar global business and one of the world’s most highly regarded producers of rosé wine” through his work. The actor accuses Jolie of contributing “nothing to Miraval’s success.’”
Further, Pitt’s legal team wrote that Jolie planned to sell her interest in October to Tenute del Mondo, which, according to People, is “bent on taking control of Miraval” and is “indirectly owned and controlled by Yuri Shefler, the Russian billionaire who controls the Stoli Group.”
The filing further read, “Jolie pursued and then consummated the purported sale in secret, purposely keeping Pitt in the dark, and knowingly violating Pitt’s contractual rights.”
Grounds For Pitt Suing Jolie
Pitt is suing the actress for breach of implied-in-fact contract, breach of quasi-contract, pleaded in the alternative, abuse of rights under Article 6-1 of the Luxembourg Civil Code, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, tortious interference with contractual relations, tortious interference with prospective business relations; and constructive trust.
Pitt’s team claims that Shefler launched a hostile takeover of Miraval and they have “cutthroat business tactics and dubious professional associations,” which “jeopardizes the reputation of the brand Pitt so carefully built. Jolie has sought to force Pitt into partnership with a stranger, and worse yet, a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions.”
Pitt is now seeking damages “in an amount to be proven at trial”. Moreover, he is trying for the purported sale made by Jolie to be declared “null and void.”
