Britney Spears, the pop superstar who’s been in the spotlight for decades, recently took to Instagram to share some heartfelt reflections. On Friday, July 13, the 42-year-old singer posted a throwback dance video from September 2023, admitting she needs to ‘slow down.’
Spears’ split with Sam Asghari, finalized in May by a Los Angeles court, marked a major shift in her life. The couple, who separated due to “irreconcilable differences,” had been married for just over a year.

Britney Spears’ Post-Divorce Revelations
Spears opened up about her emotional journey, apologizing for not being perfect and hinting at the need for more self-improvement. “I guess I need to brace myself and slow down and recap the past year because I think I had a false confidence after my divorce,” Spears wrote.
The video, set to Madonna‘s ‘I’m Addicted,‘ featured Spears dancing energetically in her living room. “Although I did post some of my best work with ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘I’m Addicted’ by Madonna !!! There was a lot of WTF moments !!! Trust me I know we’re all human and make mistakes !!!“
“I literally need to go back and adjust and possibly do a couple more therapy sessions,” she wrote. “I apologize for not being perfect and I will try and get confidence and consistency back like I used to have “
Spears has been using her Instagram to reconnect with her passions and share her life with fans. She’s posted videos of herself dancing to hits like Foster the People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks,’ Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ and J Balvin and Willy Williams’ ‘Mi Gente.’
In her caption for the J Balvin track, she revealed, “It’s been 9 months since I have danced but I did last night … It’s not very good but I did it.“Aside from dancing, Britney has shared glimpses of her life through inspirational quotes, and photos from her recent trip to Greece.

Sam Asghari Spills on Split, Says “It Was A Blessing”
Following the divorce, Sam Asghari shared his perspective with PEOPLE. “It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on,” he said.
Asghari emphasized the importance of maintaining respect and positivity about their time together, adding, “I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”
