Early fame can disillusion a human and send the person into a turbulent phase of life. Cara Delevingne exemplifies the downside of early exposure to fame. She was only 10 years old when she started modeling and debuted on the runway when she was just 19 years old. Later, she became a successful actress and model starring in films like DC Studios’ ‘Suicide Squad’ and strutting the runway for Burberry, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, and others.
However, from a young age, Cara Delevingne has been dealing with mental health issues. She was as young as 10 when doctors prescribed her sleeping pills due to insomnia that she suffered from. The early teens and 20s were very turbulent for the model due to her unhealthy relationship with alcohol and substance abuse. In September 2022, she was seen in a disheveled manner due to a public breakdown. During a recent cover interview with Vogue, Delevingne delved into her past brushes with alcoholism and mental health disorders.

As a teenager, she had self-doubt and insecurity creep into her life. This may be the reason why the ‘Carnival Row’ actress had an early bout with alcoholism in her life.
During an interview with Vogue, Cara Delevingne opened up about her experience with alcohol misuse and early mental health disorders. So, the doctor prescribed her sleeping pills.
She was also diagnosed with dyspraxia which affects bodily movements in human beings. Cara deemed the phase as “the beginning of mental health issues and inadvertent self-harm.” Due to isolation, at the age of 15, she suffered a breakdown and Cara was put on antidepressants. The model said, “I was on medication and it just…it saved my life.” The barrage of medications had a damaging effect on her.
In the interview, she said, “I hadn’t uncovered the fucking hole inside, the real whirlpool within. And I still think there’s a part of diagnosis and labeling that is damaging. There were so many times that I was encouraged to take this or be put on that.” However, she has changed her approach to medications now and she considers herself to be “more of a naturalist, a purist”.
