“Cheat Community”: J.K. Rowling Slams Trans Athlete Valentina Petrillo’s Participation In Paris Paralympics

In the past months, J.K. Rowling has earned quite the reputation for herself for being openly transphobic because of her rampant social media feuds and statements in general. While she already was a part of a controversy after she opposed the participation of a transwoman in the Paris Olympics, she’s yet again criticizing the inclusion of transgender sprinter, Valentina Petrillo in the Paris Paralympics.

The Harry Potter series writer is among the many celebrities and female athletes who have raised their voices against gender inclusivity in sports. Rowling’s latest comment came after Valentino Petrillo qualified for the semi-finals of the T12 400-meter sprint in the Paris Paralympics on Monday. Here’s what Rowling is saying.

J.K. Rowling berated transgender athlete Valentina Petrillo’s participation in the Paris Paralympics track field race in yet another addition to her transphobic spree. A visually impaired athlete, Petrillo competed in the women’s track field.

In her post, Rowling referred to Petrillo’s participation as cheating. She wrote on X, “The cheat community has never had this kind of visibility! Out and proud cheats like Petrillo prove the era of cheat-shaming is over.”

The writer vehemently condemned the eligibility of “inspirational Petrillo”. She concluded, “What a role model! I say we give Lance Armstrong his medals back and move on.”

Petrillo identifies as a woman since 2019. But she underwent hormone therapy to meet the required testosterone levels for the Paralympics.

Veteran tennis player, Martina Navratilova, also raised her voice on Petrillo’s participation. She stated, “This “inclusive” policy, in the name of being progressive, is actually regressive as the policy excludes women because BIOLOGY! You won’t find women who identify as men taking places of Males because BIOLOGY. Males and females are different. Period.”

She stated, “There are lots of people dying only for being trans, people are killed because they are trans, people commit suicide because they are trans and lose their jobs, or they are not included in sports.” Valentina concluded on the note, “But I made it. If I can make it, everyone can make it.”

Rowling’s censures followed after her statement on Imane Khelif’s row. The boxer was widely criticized for winning the Women’s Boxing in the welterweight category on the grounds of increased testosterone levels. Although Imane is a biological female, Rowling decried Imane’s makeover post-win as “hyper-feminizing”.
