For millions of fans around the world, he’ll always be the boy who lived in ‘Harry Potter‘. But at home, Daniel Radcliffe is just happy being a dad.
In a recent interview, Radcliffe shared why he is in no rush for his son to find out about that iconic chapter of his life.
Daniel Radcliffe Wants To Stay “Just Dad” For As Long As Possible

In a chat with The New York Times, the actor admitted that his son does not yet know who Harry Potter is, and he intends to keep it that way for as long as he can.
In fact, Radcliffe went a step ahead to test it out. Someone gave him a DVD to sign, and it sat on the kitchen table for a few days. While it was there, his son stood nearby, so Radcliffe decided to confirm something. He casually asked, “Who’s that?” to see whether the little boy would recognize the face on the cover.

Good for Radcliffe, the little one didn’t connect, and that made Radcliffe genuinely happy. He said that his child not recognizing him was “great.” He then said that he wants to protect this phase of his life for as long as he can, by just being a dad.
How Radcliffe Wants His Son To Discover The Wizarding World’s Magic

Radcliffe further went on to explain that he does not want his child to grow up seeing him through the lens of a famous character. “I don’t want him to see me as that before he sees me as his dad,” he shared honestly. He wants that discovery to come naturally if it ever does. The actor even added, “I want him to make his own decision about it”; there is no pressure at all.

At the same time, Radcliffe has already thought about what might happen if his son becomes curious about Harry Potter in the future. Interestingly, he isn’t eager to sit down and show him the original films he starred in.
Instead, he revealed that he would prefer to introduce his son to the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series or read the books. Ideally, he said, he could just put that version on and let his child experience the story without having to watch him in it. That, he admitted, would be “honestly, the ideal.”
Lastly, Radcliffe even joked that if his son never became interested in Harry Potter at all, he would be completely fine with that as well. Right now, he just wants to be present as a normal, not-so-famous dad.
