Oliver Hudson made a highly controversial remark while he recently revealed that he cheated on his wife Erinn Bartlett before their marriage, and that he doesn’t regret the unfaithfulness. In a recent conversation on the Sibling Revelry podcast co-hosted by his sister Kate Hudson, Oliver opened up about the challenging period in his relationship with his then-fiancé before their marriage in 2006.
The actor said that he experienced a psychological spiral after getting engaged to Bartlett, which led him to infidelity. “When I got engaged, something happened psychologically. I spiraled, and I was unfaithful, and I was cheating, and I was crazy,” Hudson explained to sister Kate, further clarifying that he never got caught but decided to come clean of his own accord.
“I told her everything because I couldn’t live with myself and get married and be married and have children with this sort of weight. I was crying, like ‘Oh my god, who am I?’” he said, while crediting Erinn’s strength and understanding as they navigated their relationship.

Oliver maintained that though he deeply regrets causing Erinn pain with his actions, he got to learn a lot about himself from the experience. “Honestly, if that didn’t happen, I don’t know what kind of a person I would be,” he said.
“So, do I regret it? I mean, no, I guess not. I regret causing pain. I don’t wanna cause anyone any pain,” he said, adding that the important part is to learn from your mistakes and how they affected the people around you. “If everything was f—ing rainbows and roses, then who are you?” the star said.
Oliver and Erinn got engaged in 2004 and married in 2006 in a beach wedding ceremony in Cabo. The couple has since built a family together, welcoming three children: sons Wilder and Bodhi, and daughter Rio.
