At the We, Robot event last night, Elon Musk upstaged the show once more. This time, however, it wasn’t one jaw-dropping innovation by Tesla but two. The highly publicized Tesla Cybercab was on glorious view at the event, but taking the spotlight was Musk’s trusted sidekick: the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot.
Unveiled this time is the second and more advanced version of the Optimus robot that can do way more than just talk and walk, unlike its predecessor. A boastful Elon Musk revealed all about the new features of his beloved advanced robot, leaving the audience awestruck to both marvel at and fear the robot’s capabilities. Here’s all he said.
Elon Musk Says Optimus Is His “Most Significant Creation”
As informed by Elon Musk at the We, Robo event last night, Optimus has now reached an evolutionary stage where he said, “it can do anything.” Yes, you read that right! “The Optimus will walk among you,” Musk declared, with a smile as he added, “You can walk right up to them, and they will serve drinks.”

Musk said he sees Optimus as some sort of ultimate multitasker—whether it’s walking your dog, babysitting, mowing the lawn, or serving up cocktails at your next soirée. He confidently estimated the long-term price to land between $20,000 and $30,000, describing it as “the most significant product ever created.”
He even went so far as to claim, “I think everyone in the 8 billion people on Earth will want an Optimus buddy.”
Elon Musk Is Beaming With Pride As Optimus Gen 2 Promises To Change The World
The Optimus Gen 2, unveiled in December 2023, is much better than the original. The first version of Optimus could walk and talk, but the new version moves much more quickly, has far more fluid hand movements, and even sports tactile sensors on its fingers.
To show off his proud creation’s skills, Musk posted a video of Optimus folding a shirt, which he titled, “Optimus folds a shirt.” Now whether that’s cool or creepy is entirely up to the viewers.
Tesla’s Optimus has a long way since it was first presented on AI Day in 2021, introducing the machine destined to take over boring and repetitive tasks that even humans are afraid of. Even in 2022, Musk made jokes about an early demo that he said they “didn’t want it to fall on its face.”

On the Cybercab front, Musk boldly showed off his dream of a completely driverless vehicle without such traditional controls as steering wheel and pedals. He promised that the self-driving Teslas will come to Texas and California next year.
The production of the Cybercab will begin in 2026. Here it comes buckled up and closer than you ever imagined, the future of Tesla!
