George Clooney has many admirers in Hollywood but Quentin Tarantino isn’t one of them. He openly shaded the actor, and now Clooney has responded to the ace director’s scathing remark in a GQ Magazine cover story he did with his long-time friend Brad Pitt.
While Clooney worked with Tarantino in ‘From Dusk Till Dawn‘ (1996), Pitt collaborated with him on the Oscar-winning ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood‘. But then, Tarantino claimed that Clooney is no longer a movie star. Now, the actors have once again joined forces on screen in ‘Wolfs‘. While talking about his new film, Clooney retaliated in response to Tarantino’s comment.
“I Don’t Mind Giving Him S***”: George Clooney On Quentin Tarantino
For the GQ Magazine cover story, George narrated that Quentin did an interview where he stated that the former was not a movie star. Clooney replied, “Quentin said some sh*t about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him.” The filmmaker claimed that Clooney has not been a movie star since the millennia started. Clooney immediately replied, “And I was like, ‘Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole f***ing career.”
Sharing his current feelings, Clooney added, “So now I’m like, all right, dude, fuck off. I don’t mind giving him s***.” So far, Quentins’s team has no comment on the feud.
George Clooney And Brad Pitt On The Changing Face Of Hollywood Stardom
While talking about Hollywood stars, both actors agreed that the film industry does not boost rising actors as they did in Brad and George’s time. Clooney observed the scarcity of stars in the industry. He further added, “We kind of were at the very end of that, where you could work at a studio and do three or four films, and there was some plan to it. And I don’t think that’s necessarily the case anymore. So it’s harder for you to sell somebody something on the back of a star.”
Yet Clooney appreciated the better opportunities for actors now. He said, “If you looked at the back of the L.A. Times every Monday morning they had the 64 shows that were made. And of those 64 shows, if you’re actually on one of them, you’re trying to be in the top 20 to keep your show on the air. But that was it. And then the studios were doing five films a year. Now there are 600 shows. So there’s a lot more work for actors.”
Brad and George’s action comedy ‘Wolfs‘ will premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in September. The film’s cast also includes Amy Ryan, Poorna Jagannathan, Austin Ambers, and Richard Kind.
