It seems George R.R. Martin, the mastermind behind the expansive world of Westeros, isn’t putting all his eggs in the same basket. While ‘A Song of Ice and Fire‘ is no more a single entity with several sequels and prequels flourishing as part of the franchise, Martin seemingly isn’t done expanding his world yet.
The author recently said he might be cooking up a new project centered on Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark in ‘Game of Thrones‘. Williams was one of the most beloved characters on the show, with many fans even disappointed about her fate not being more heroic. Here’s what Martin said about his plans and whether or not he plans on bringing her character to justice like fans wanted.
What’s Brewing Between George R.R. Martin And Maisie Williams?
In his latest blog post, George R.R. Martin reminisced over his travels across London, spent in good part with Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark in ‘Game of Thrones‘. “We also went out with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta and talked about — well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it,” Martin wrote, keeping everyone on their toes.
He remained quiet about the particulars but did say that it could be so much fun, leaving everyone in anticipation. Is Arya Stark set to make her grand return, or is this something completely new?

Though Martin hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumor linking this secret project to ‘Game of Thrones‘, fans can’t help but hypothesize. Since Williams famously played Arya Stark throughout the show’s eight-season run, any new collaboration between her and Martin will surely send fans into frenzy.
HBO Head Casey Bloys Sparks Hope For ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans
Meanwhile, back at HBO, the network’s doing its own thing to expand its own ‘Game of Thrones‘ universe. Speaking with Variety, Casey Bloys, the head at HBO, was optimistic about his network’s partnerships with Martin when talking about the creative process that has engaged both parties at times.
“He’s very important to me, to us,” Bloys said while speaking to reporters. “But when we put shows together, it’s like putting a marriage together. Marriages can be difficult, especially when Ryan Condal is making creative decisions and adapting work. It can be fraught. Any marriage can get rocky. I would prefer everybody get along, of course. But with the creative process, we are always going to have bumps. That’s to be expected,” he added.

Beyond the setbacks, the ‘Game of Thrones‘ franchise keeps chugging. Fans eagerly await a third season of ‘House of the Dragon‘, and another prequel, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘, is also in the pipeline.
Jon Snow fans might be slightly disappointed though, as Kit Harington’s long-awaited sequel has been put on hold. However, Bloys said there’s a possibility that the production would give it another shot in the future.
