Johnny Depp added another feather to his cap with another great achievement of lifetime recognition by the Rome Film Festival. While his phenomenal performances in films like ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory‘ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ have elevated him with heavy status in Hollywood, his woes have also had a fair share in his journey.
As the 61-year-old star is set to come back to screens with his latest film ‘Modì – Three Days On The Wing Of Madness’, the infamous trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard has still not entirely left his life. The actor was significantly affected because of the highly publicized and controversial trial. Though he came victorious out of it, the scars it left haven’t entirely faded away — or that is what his recent cryptic remarks hint at. Here’s what he said.
Johnny Depp Thanks His Fans And Supporters For His Success
In the heartfelt acceptance speech he delivered after receving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Rome Film Festival, Johnny Depp proclaimed eternal thanks to the fans and supporters. He recognized that they were a significant factor in his long-standing success.
“My eternal thanks goes out to all of you people, real people, my employers, our employers,” he said. “I am humbled as without you I would not be here or likely I would not be anywhere.” Depp further called his audiences the “warriors and heroes” and explained how they actually fueled his passion for filming.
“You are the very reason that I do continue and want to continue to make films,” he said, further adding with candor, “I’m very lucky to still be around and most of you are the reason for that, so thank you.”
The evening took a personal turn as Depp, visibly emotional over the honor, used the moment to talk about his new film, ‘Modì‘. “I hope that something in Modì inspires you, because you inspire me.”
Johnny Depp Says He Can “Remember It All” In A Cryptic Nod To His Infamous Trial
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter after the event, Johnny Depp seemingly gave a cryptic nod to his widely publicized legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard, though he never mentioned her by name.
“I can remember it all. Went through it all. Some of it was not the most beautiful time, some of it was hilarious. Some of it was mad. The thing is, it simply just was, and it simply just is,” Depp said, leaving many to wonder if the statement was directed at his past relationship.

He continued, taking a more philosophical approach to what lessons life teaches. “For me, it happened. I learned, man. Everything that we experience, whether you’re given a snow cone or walking your dog, you learn something somewhere along the way.”
He said he does not hold any grudges or ill will. “I don’t have this great reserve of hatred, because hatred requires caring. Why carry that baggage?” Depp added, pointing to his need to maintain his emotional slate clean and unburdened by the past.
His latest film, ‘Modì‘ is scheduled to hit screens on December 5, 2024.
