Al Pacino has been making headlines since the release of his autobiography ‘Sonny Boy: A Memoir’. Fans of the veteran actor are in for a treat as he pens down his life behind the screen.
In one of the chapters, Pacino recalls a fond memory while filming ‘Dick Tracy’ with Madonna. The actor reveals that he manhandled the pop star while making the 1990 crime action. Here’s what ‘The Godfather’ actor said about filming with Madonna.
Director Asked Al Pacino To Go Wild With His ‘Dick Tracy’ Character
‘Dick Tracy’ remains another Al Pacino crime films classics. Pacino played the antagonist, slimy mob boss Alphonse ‘Big Boy’ Caprice in the film. In his autobiography, he recalls filming the kidnapping scene with Madonna. Big Boy shoves Breathless, played by Madonna, into a van and knocks her about or conks her on the head several times.
Director, Warren Beatty had asked Al Pacino to let his character “run wild” in the comic strip adaptation. However, Pacino seems to have gone too far on Beatty’s advice. In the kidnapping scene, Pacino goes too rough on Madonna. Although Pacino mentions them as “just love taps”, Madonna disagreed with the actor.
Madonna Hated The Idea Of Being Beaten Around By Al Pacino
While Al Pacino might chuckle at the memory, Madonna did not like the idea of getting beaten around. Madonna revealed to Page Six, “He was always smacking my butt and my face..and so what happened off camera was I’d always try to be moving away from him. He‘d always grab me and go, ‘Get over here!’ which is exactly what happened in the movie.”

Nonetheless, the ‘Hung Up’ singer thought Al Pachino was a well-behaved gentleman off camera. She described the actor as “well-mannered and gentlemanly.”
