As the presidential elections draw nearer, Hollywood isn’t shying away from voicing its support for the running candidates. While many have already endorsed Trump, Kamala Harris is also a popular name among celebrities.
Joining the line is Sigourney Weaver, who revealed that she feels proud to have contributed to the US presidential candidate, Kamala Harris‘ rise, no matter how small. The ‘Avatar’ actress attending the Venice Film Festival when she was asked about the influence of her film character on Harris’ campaign. Here’s what she said.

Sigourney Weaver Is Proud To Have Influenced Kamla Harris’ Rising Support
To have the means and status to influence society is an immense power and Sigourney Weaver believes she has used hers well. The actor teared up outside the Venice Film Festival as a reporter asked how her ‘Alien’ character influenced the current political wave in favor of Harris. Sigourney played the character Ellen Ripley who remained the sole survivor in the 1979 film.
She stated, “To think for one moment that my work would have anything to do with her rise makes me very happy, actually, because it’s true”. She added, “I have so many women who come and thank me.”
She then appeared to become misty, as she jokingly said, “Sorry, I need my vodka.”

Sigourney Weaver Opens Up About Playing Older Women On Screen
The filming industry can be hard for women. It can be especially tough on older women. Sigourney Weaver revealed her experience with aging and how it affected her roles.
She said, “Suddenly, I think they had decided somehow that older women could actually play interesting characters and started writing a lot of older women characters”
“Suddenly, we stopped being a joke and a mother-in-law, and we started to be real people because actually a lot of our audience are real people,” she added.
Weaver has played many bold roles, including the bad-ass Dr. Grace in ‘Avatar’. She stated, “I’m always asked why I play strong women and I always think that’s such a weird question because I just play women, and women are strong and women don’t give up”
