Hilary Duff’s ‘Mature’ Roasts Leonardo DiCaprio’s Dating Style

Hilary Duff is finally back with new music after a long break, and her new single Mature has done more than impress fans, so much so that it has sent fans into full-on Sherlock mode.

Yes, the lyrics of Sydney Sweeney’s new song Mature are filled with clues. Now, fans are trying to figure out who it is for. And as fans piece things together, one name keeps coming up, Leonardo DiCaprio.

After ten years away from music, we can’t be happier about Hilary’s comeback to the industry. She has made her comeback with the song ‘Mature,’ which she has co-written with her husband, Matthew Koma, and songwriter Madison Love. While the song has already made it to many playlists, it’s the lyrics of the song that are making more buzz.

From the song, it’s clear that she was talking about her younger self and looks back on a relationship that wasn’t as mature as it once seemed. But that’s just the surface of it. In the song, Hilary talks about someone who appeared charming and wise but turned out to be more show than substance.

She sings, “Bet she’s so impressed by your Basquiat / And she thinks you’re deep in the ways you’re not.” Then in the chorus, she adds another memorable line: “Bet she loves when she hears you say, ‘You’re so mature for your age, babe.’” Even talking to Vogue regarding the lyrics in her interview, she said that she found herself wondering whether that guy had a habit of dating younger women or if she had been “special.”

Fans quickly picked up on the tone and began wondering who could’ve inspired it. And that’s where things start to sound a lot like someone Hollywood knows very well.

The Leonardo DiCaprio Connection Everyone’s Talking About

The line that caught everyone’s attention comes midway through the song: “Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch.” That’s all it took for fans to lose it. After all, Leonardo DiCaprio is a Scorpio, born November 11, and has long been known for dating much younger women. The connection was too obvious to ignore.

And it doesn’t stop there. In the same verse, Hilary mentions Basquiat, the famous artist. Fans were quick to remember that DiCaprio has been a big Basquiat collector and even made headlines in 2017 for trying to buy one of his paintings. But DiCaprio isn’t only on the speculation list. Turns out, there’s Joel Madden, too, whom Hilary dated in the early 2000s. Even then, the age gap between the duo was still a lot; Hilary was just 16 back then, while Joel was 25.

Though Hilary hasn’t confirmed who the song is about, and she probably never will. She told Vogue that Mature came from a “brief experience” from a “long, long time ago.” While she admitted it’s not completely based on real events, she said, “the gist is the gist.” Whether Mature is about Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Madden, or simply inspired by a mix of old memories, we can rest in peace knowing that it’s about Hilary first, and that’s enough for us!
