Reunions don’t always steal the spotlight at major award shows. But, recently, a funny reunion between former ‘Homeland‘ stars turned into one of the most talked-about moments at the Actor Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
While presenting an award, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis surprised the audience by joking about their former young co-star Timothée Chalamet. The pair playfully roasted Timothée on stage and even claimed credit for his success.
‘Homeland’s Claire Danes and Damian Lewis Say They “Made” Timothée Chalamet

Long before Timothée became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, he had a breakout television role in 2012. It was during the second season of ‘Homeland‘. In the show, he played Finn Walden, the rebellious and entitled son of the Vice President of the United States. The role introduced him to a wider audience and placed him alongside some major TV stars.
At the time, Claire Danes led the acclaimed thriller as CIA officer Carrie Mathison, while Damian Lewis played Marine Nicholas Brody, a soldier who returns home from war and quickly becomes Carrie’s main suspect. Because of their intense storyline and performances, the show quickly became one of the most talked-about dramas on television.
When Claire and Damian walked onto the stage at the Actor Awards to present the Best Ensemble in a Drama Series award, Damian first praised the nominated shows. However, he quickly turned the conversation toward their own series. He asked Claire whether Homeland had ever won the ensemble award.
Claire answered right away, “No, no, it did not.” Then, with a playful tone, she added that this was exactly why they had come; they wanted a rematch. Damian kept the joke going by recalling that ‘Homeland‘ had lost to shows like ‘Downton Abbey‘ and ‘Breaking Bad.’ Acting as if he had never heard of those famous shows, he joked about their competitors and teased actors. The list included names like Bryan Cranston and Michelle Dockery, saying they were “going down.”
Claire then reminded the audience that Homeland had a powerful ensemble cast. According to her, their lineup included heavy hitters like F. Murray Abraham and Mandy Patinkin. She also pointed out that Timothée Chalamet had appeared on the show early in his career.
Building on the joke, Claire suggested that working on ‘Homeland‘ might have prepared Timothée for a Safdie film. She referenced director Josh Safdie, who directed Timothée’s latest movie, ‘Marty Supreme‘. Damian then jumped in and laughed, saying, “We made you, Timothée… just saying,” before adding that they were ready for a recount.
Awards Night Brings A Surprise For Timothée

Meanwhile, the playful teasing about Timothée became even more interesting as the night went on. Later in the ceremony, the awards season delivered a surprising twist for the actor. Michael B. Jordan pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the evening when he won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. In addition, his film Sinners also earned the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Notably, Jordan beat a strong lineup of nominees. The category included Timothée for Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia. However, Timothée handled the moment gracefully.
The actor, who had already won at the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Golden Globe Awards earlier in the season, stood up and applauded Jordan. Although he did not take home the top prize, Timothée still enjoyed a special evening at the ceremony.
