The hip-hop world was shocked to the core as it heard about the brutal death of Migos rapper, Takeoff. The twenty-eight-year-old was shot dead when an altercation broke out at 810 Billiards & Bowling, Hudson. His uncle, Quavo, the oldest member of the rap trio, was present with Takeoff during the shooting but survived unharmed. The three members of the group have been in the industry for long and Takeoff, with Quavo and his cousin Offset, had started young.

How Did Takeoff Get His Sobriquet?
Though Takeoff started young, he has been stated as exceptionally talented by his uncle, Quavo. He began rapping with Quavo and his cousin Offset in 2008 when he was only twelve years old. In the group’s debut studio album ‘Yung Rich Nation’ they had cameo appearances by big rap guns like Chris Brown and Young Thug. That year the album ranked 17 on the Billboard 200. This minor fraction of his career was achieved by the time he was nineteen.
In an interview with Complex, Quavo praised his nephew saying, “The reason why his name is Takeoff is because he’ll do everything in one take“. He further continued, “He’ll do his whole verse and not mess up.” Takeoff’s last album before his demise was ‘Only Built For Infinity Links’ with his uncle. Record label Quality Control Music founder Pierre Thomas applauded Takeoff’s performance in the latest album, “Takeoff so underrated“.

What Was Takeoff’s Real Name?
Kirshnik Khari Ball was the American rapper’s real name. The deceased along with his group Migos had worked with other artists like Cardi B, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and more. By the age of twenty-eight, he had been nominated for the Grammy twice. A big feat indeed. The Migos group had been having some controversy a month before the youngest member was shot dead. Allegedly, Offset got involved with his uncle’s girlfriend, Saweetie. Following on 7 October Quavo and Takeoff released the ‘Only Built For Infinity Links’ under the homely name Unc & Phew, leaving out Offset.
On 22 October, rapper N.O.R.E commended Takeoff’s performance in his latest album. He said, “I’m chill, I’m laid back. But it’s time to pop it.” It’s is certainly heartbreaking that amidst an unresolved dispute with his family rap group the artist left the world. Fans mourn that they would never be able to see the Migos group in their old glory again.
