The actress debuted in ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ in 1987. Ward’s breakthrough performance was as Rachel McGuire in ‘Boy Meets World.’ She got married in 2006 to John Baxter.
However, in the turn of events, the Disney actress shook the world with the announcement of her first porn film in 2019 titled ‘Drive.’ In an interview, Ward said, “I read the script, and I was like, ‘This is really, really well written. This has so many themes in this and just my character is so different than anything I have portrayed before.'” Now, she has delved into writing by penning her memoir titled ‘Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood.’ During her promotional tour, Ward talked about how her husband reacted to her porn venture.

Maitland Ward Reveals What Her Husband Said About Her Decision To Do Porn
In 2019, Ward posted about her venture into the porn industry with the film titled ‘Drive.’ The five-part feature was written and directed by Kayden Kross and Angela White. Now, she has written her memoir about the career transition that she had with foraying into the stigmatized porn industry. In an already stigmatized industry, to be a woman is even more difficult as society looks down upon you. However, in Ward’s case, her spouse encouraged her to go with it.
In a recent interview, the actress said, “He saw the truth in me that I wasn’t going to cross the boundary of…getting with guys basically.” The actress and author was surprised when he agreed with the career she was initiating.
When ‘Drive’ was offered to her, John encouraged her to go with the project as he saw that the actress had a lot of fantasies. She said in the interview, “[My husband] really was the one that came and, out of the blue to me, he said, ‘I see this in you. You really need to try this. You really wanna live out these fantasies.‘” The author also thinks that the liberty that her spouse extended in the decision helped “to make the relationship stronger.”

Maitland Felt Confined In The Hollywood Industry
Ward wanted to break out of the shackle of “convenient sexualization by the male TV executives.” Baxter realized that. The actress said, “So many men especially, women too, are very jealous and want to keep their partner in a box. And he knows that I had been in a box for so long in Hollywood.”
Ward praised her spouse further and added, “He [John Baxter] really saw that if he held me back from any of this, he would be the one now keeping me in a box. And he knew how much that bothered me and how hard that was for so many years for me.”
She continued, “I was finally emerging and I was having fun and I was successful, so he didn’t want to stop my trajectory. And I mean, hey, it went better than I could have ever imagined.”
