Johnny Depp was born on June 9, 1963, in the city of Owensboro in Kentucky to an English-speaking family. He was raised in the United States and so his first language has been English.
In 1998, Johnny began dating the French singer and actress, Vanessa Paradis. The two were together for 14 years and share two children, Lily Rose Depp and Jack Depp. The children grew up bilingual, as they conversed with their mother in French and switched to English while talking to Depp. However, the father wanted to understand his kids all the time, and decided to learn French. In 2006, the actor shared that he understands French pretty well and has improved a lot in speaking, but, he does have a terrible accent in it.
