In 2017, Hollywood and the world were reverberating with the #MeToo movement. The origin of the movement was when Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was accused by as many as 90 women of sexual assault allegations. The investigation led to many women coming forward with their stories of assault. Harvey was sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York and 16 years in Los Angeles County.
Recently, Jennifer Aniston came forward to call out the recent phenomenon of cancellation culture by referring to the disgraced Harvey Weinstein. Aniston, along with Reese Witherspoon, stars in AppleTV+’s ‘The Morning Show,’ a newsroom drama that tackles the #MeToo movement allegations in the newsroom. The actress appeared on the cover of The Wall Street Journal, where she addressed the cancellation culture and how she does not categorize everyone in a “Harvey Weinstein” basket.

AppleTV+ announced the renewal of the Jennifer Aniston-starrer social drama ‘The Morning Show.’ The new season of the show is set to release globally on September 13, 2023. Recently, the ‘Friends’ actress appeared on the cover of The Wall Street Journal, where she expressed that she is “so over cancel culture.”
Jennifer Aniston said, “I probably just got canceled by saying that. I just don’t understand what it means.… Is there no redemption? I don’t know. I don’t put everybody in the Harvey Weinstein basket.”
The actress went on to say that, though Harvey Weinstein did not harass her, she did not have a pleasant experience with the disgraced director. Aniston said, “He’s not a guy; you’re like, ‘God, I can’t wait to hang out with Harvey.’ Never. You were actually like, ‘Oh, God, OK, suck it up.’ I remember actually that he came to visit me on a movie to pitch me a movie. And I do remember consciously having a person stay in my trailer.”

When the #MeToo movement gained prominence, many actresses came out to tell their stories about Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulting them. The roster includes Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and others. While Aniston says she was not the survivor of the assault by Weinstein, a letter from the Enquirer emerged about the ‘Derailed’ actress confiding about the assault to a friend.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, a Harvey Weinstein spokeswoman forwarded an email from the Enquirer. The email read, “Jennifer confided to a friend that during the production of the 2005 movie Derailed, Weinstein sexually assaulted her by pressing up against her back in [sic] grabbing her b****cks. … Through the years, he would frequently stare at her cl****ge/breast and move his mouth around, making Jennifer uncomfortable.”
It continued, “We also quote a source close to Jennifer who tells the Enquirer: ‘Harvey was infatuated with Jennifer Aniston — He had a massive crush on her and constantly talked about how hot she was.’ “ When the spokeswoman shared the letter to Weinstein, writing, “Not sure if you saw this one. Jennifer Aniston.” Weinstein replied, “Jennifer should be killed.”
