“If I Ever Pass The Baton, I’ll Pass It On To Him”: Sylvester Stallone Wants Ryan Gosling To Be The Next Rambo

Ryan Gosling might have another iconic role on his resumé as Sylvester Stallone reveals that he would like the ‘Barbie’ actor to step into his shoes to resume the journey of the iconic character.

As the director and actor of the series, Stallone seems to have found the perfect Rambo in Gosling. Here’s what he said.

Talking with Jimmy Fallon at an episode of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ Sylvester Stallone was all praise about Ryan Gosling and how perfect he would be to play Rambo.

“I met [Ryan] at a dinner,” he said. “Obviously, we are opposites. He’s good-looking. I’m not. Seriously! Could you imagine me as Ken? It doesn’t work at all.”

He then revealed that Gosling was a fan of Rambo as well. “[Ryan] goes, ‘I was fascinated by Rambo, and I used to go to school dressed as Rambo, and people would chase me away and I still didn’t stop. I’d vacation as Rambo.’”

“He just kept saying that he had a lot of affiliation with Rambo,“ Stallone continued. “I thought, ‘You know, this is interesting. If I ever pass the baton, I’ll pass it on to him because he loves the character.’”

In the ending, however, he added that the only concern is that Gosling is too good-looking to play the role. “I don’t know if anyone would say, ‘Hey, he’s too good-looking to be Rambo,’” the director-actor concluded.

As said by Stallone himself, Ryan Gosling is a big fan of Rambo.

In a 2011 interview, Gosling shared how much he loved the franchise. “So when I was a kid I saw ‘Rambo: First Blood’ and then the movie put a spell on me and I thought I was Rambo. I even thought my face felt like Sylvester Stallone’s.”

“I put a bunch of steak knives in my Fischer Price kit and I took it to school the next day and I threw them at all the kids at recess,” he said. “I got suspended and I didn’t hit anybody, and I’m sorry. I don’t think it’s cool.”

He has also shown his admiration for Stallone when asked about who his favorite action hero was. Ryan said,  “I think, look, Stallone. Stallone. He’s such a good actor. So you got action, but you’ve got these, like, amazing characters at the center of it. It was just like, it was a beautiful marriage. I miss those days.”

It’s also worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time Sylvester has talked about passing the role to Gosling. In 2015, the actor was asked about who could play Rambo in the future, to which he answered,  “For real? Ryan Gosling. Kind of an odd choice, right?”

Well, if everything goes by as planned, we might be seeing a Rambo reboot starring Ryan Gosling pretty soon.
