Talking with Jonathan Van Meter for Vogue, the ‘A Star Is Born’ actress revealed that she has always been fascinated with the artifice. “I was really, truly fascinated with artifice as an artistic tool,” she said during the interview.
“There was a time in my career when I…. Look,” she continued, “where I spoke in an accent in interviews or told lies, but I was performing. Now, it’s a much more palatable mixture of authenticity and imagination.”

Gaga’s statements seemed almost poetic as she webbed the image of her life as a combination of true and public face. “This is me. This. Is. Me. It’s too…complicated to split yourself in two and have to turn it off and on. It’s so much more empowering to be like, I’m a woman and I’m super complex,” she said.
