Henry Cavill bid adieu to Netflix’s hit fantasy show, ‘The Witcher,’ before the commencement of Season 4. Many fans speculated that this was because of his commitment to DC Universe, in which he plays Superman. But now the actor has announced his departure from that role as well, is there a possibility of him starring in ‘The Witcher’ again?

Will Henry Cavill Return As Geralt Of Rivia In ‘The Witcher’ Season 4’?
It was in October 2021 that Henry Cavill took to Instagram to inform fans that he won’t be returning for the fourth season of ‘The Witcher.’ He wrote, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”
He further added, “As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
Fans vehemently opposed Liam Hemsworth’s casting in the role that Henry carried on his shoulders so convincingly. ‘The Witcher’ had debuted on Netflix in 2019 and the fantasy show soon shot up to the top as a fan favorite. The only hope for fans was his possible return as Superman, which was reinforced when he appeared as the hero in the end credits of Dwayne Johnson-starrer ‘Black Adam’.

Why Did Henry Cavill Say Goodbye To His Role As Superman?
It’s true that seeing Henry Cavill in ‘Black Adam’ sparked hope and excitement among fans, but Variety has confirmed that the British actor won’t make another appearance as Superman. A while back, Warner Bros. was planning to back a Superman movie with Cavill in the lead, with Charles Roven as producer. However, since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, the project got suspended. They want to bring forth their own vision without Cavill.
Their statement read, “Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year. Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.”
This was a hard pill to swallow for Henry, but he understood that a young actor needs to be cast for the new Superman film DC has planned. He expressed his emotions about the decision and wrote, “It’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. I respect that James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”
