In October 2023, right after the 45th wedding anniversary of Meryl Streep and Don Gummer, the actress announced that she had been separated from him for six years. In a statement given to People by her representative, she said, “Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”
Martin Short became a widower in 2010 after he lost his wife, Nancy Dolman, to ovarian cancer. The couple got married in 1980. They have three children—Katherine Elizabeth, Henry Hayter, and Oliver Patrick. In an interview with AARP: The Magazine, Martin Short talked about how he still communicates with his wife.
Martin said, “Our marriage was a triumph, so it’s tough. She died in 2010, but I still communicate with her all the time. It’s, ‘Hey Nan,’ you know?
