Tinashe Is Proud Of Her Work, But Hopes For More
The release of Tinashe’s song ‘Nasty’ took over social media in a viral fever. Each reel buzzed with melodies of the song. Naturally, Tinashe was thrilled with the success. However, the singer is mature enough to predict the cycle of the industry.
In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, Tinashe revealed why she hasn’t “broken through as a mega pop artist“. She feels that as a black woman in the music industry, the direction of her marketing is still taking shape. However, the ‘Getting No Sleep’ singer is proud of her work and enjoys her freedom in songwriting.
She stated, “Going viral is fun. It’s everything that you expect it to be. It’s tons of excitement and eyeballs and attention. It starts really fast and it ends really fast.”
“My biggest takeaway is that it’s just a moment in time,” she said. “To create a lasting career and something that has a real legacy requires you to do the work around the viral moment. I’m lucky I had a whole album ready, because if you don’t have anything to supplement that moment, they come and go so quick,” the singer added.

Tinashe Loves The Pop-Girl Moment
This year has seen the rise and vogue of many female artists and Tinashe is on the Pop-Girl train. Taylor Swift is currently touring in Europe. Sabrina Carpenter‘s ‘Please Please Please’ and ‘Espresso’ have become a sensation.
Tinashe is among many who believe that this year belongs to Pop-Girl Moment. She stated, “I think so, like a mini moment. I hope it continues.”
The ‘2 On’ singer added, “It’s been a while since we’ve had anything that feels like that “main pop girl” energy. Pop just hasn’t been inspiring, at least to me, so I think it’s really cool to see how many people are thriving in that space now. We love to see it.”
Tinashe concluded by wishing that she might get to work with André 3000, James Blake, and Rosalia in her future projects.
