‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ star Chris Pratt is giving fans all the details on how he spent his first ever cheque after his first role in Hollywood, and as he admits, it might not have been the best way.
Pratt talked to SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, reminiscing about his early days in Hollywood and how, as he realises now, financial literacy is important. Read on to know more.
Here’s How Chris Pratt Spent His First Cheque
Chris Pratt admitted that he blew up his first cheque of earnings as he stepped foot into the industry quite irresponsibly, and a large number at that too. The actor said, “I was under the impression that I would never run out of money. The first paycheck I got, I was like, ‘Are you serious?’ I had lived on very little money for a long time, so the first big job I got … was a TV movie. I got paid $75,000.”
He confessed that he did a fair amount of traveling, assuming that he wouldn’t run out of money, before adding, “I was like, ‘Well, I’m gonna probably invest, I’m probably gonna get a yacht.’ That was just a crazy amount of money to me. I never could have possibly imagined making that amount of money and it went very quickly.”
He then came up with a financially better plan, talking about how he realised it was so important for him make sure to save enough to atleast be able to retire early one day. “I didn’t know what to do with money. It was like, it would come in, I would spend it,” Pratt said.
“It took a good amount of time for me to kind of stop and say, ‘All right, I gotta get wise about this.’ I have to think about, ‘What am I gonna do? How am I gonna get to the point where if I stop working one day, I’ll still be OK? My family will be OK.’ So, kind of coming up with a financial literacy plan, you know, later in my life was sort of one of the steps of me growing up,” he added.

Though he had appeared in a fair number of shows and films before, his breakthrough role was Andy Dwyer in ‘Parks And Recreation.’ What was initially all set to be a temporary character, earned his own place in the series because of how much the producers liked him.
He is mostly known as his role of Starlord in Marvel films, and his role as Owen Grady in the ‘Jurassic Park‘ films, for which he continues to get praises, making them the most important roles in his career.
As of now, starring alongside Rebecca Ferguson in a key role, Chris Pratt will lead the sci-fi thriller ‘Mercy’ from Amazon MGM Studios. The film is scheduled to be released in 2025, as revealed.
