‘Dexter’ remains one of the most watched and beloved series of all times, and is expanding its base further. Two new shows from the franchise are set to hit the screens soon, and Michael C. Hall, who played the titular character in the original series, is joining both the projects.
Hall’s return to the franchise is being looked at as a huge step as the actor will be joining the prequel series, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ as well as ‘Dexter: Resurrection’. Hall himself is excited about the prospects. Here’s what he said about his return to the franchise and what it means for him.

Michael C. Hall Is Set To Narrate The ‘Dexter’ Prequel
Michael C. Hall will be returning to the ‘Dexter‘ franchise’s prequel series as the inner voice of the titular serial killer that he originally played on the show. Though he will assume the narrator’s role in the prequel, there is potential for his further involvement as announced during the show’s 2024 Comic-Con panel.
After opening credits for the new prequel series — which is a recreation of the original show’s graphic breakfast-making process — were played at the Comic-Con, the final credit revealed Hall’s casting. The actor himself then walked onstage to join the cast and showrunner, as the crowd offered him a standing ovation.
“It’s pretty heady. It’s so gratifying,” Hall said of returning to the franchise for the prequel. “I cannot wait to watch this show. I’m on the inside to a certain degree and I have a sense of what’s coming but I’m really excited,” the 53-year-old actor added.
“I’ve spent so much time with this character and to go back and have all the imaginative blanks filled in is going to be great,” Hall said.

Michael C. Hall Opens Up About Patrick Gibson, Who Will Play Dexter’s Younger Version
During the Comic-Con, Michael C. Hall also talked about narrating Dexter’s thoughts and about meeting Patrick Gibson, who is playing young Dexter in ‘Dexter: Original Sin‘. “It was always a tricky thing to imagine where Dexter might have been coming from, who he’s talking to,” Hall said.
“There were times I imagined he was in some sort of space where he was shown his life and had to justify it to some overlord or something,” he continued. “And I suppose it kind of works the same way in this,” Hall said as he opened up about how he met Patrick Gibson.
“The first time I encountered Patrick was when I joined via Zoom for a table read for the first two episodes,” Hall revealed. “We exchanged some emails. We just met today and we’re almost the exact same height.”
Gibson himself had a lot of praise for Hall as he revealed, “Michael doesn’t know that I’ve spent many nights falling asleep to his voice. This is the first time I’ve been able to tell you.”
