Jared Harris, Son Of Dumbledore Actor, Says ‘Harry Potter’ Films Were Enough And People Should “Leave Them Alone”

The upcoming Harry Potter‘ TV series on Max has been met with mixed reception since its announcement last year. While many fans are excited about the prospect of seeing the beloved wizarding world brought to life in a new format, others have expressed concerns.

Jared Harris, the son of the OG Dumbledore, Richard Harris, is among them. He believes that the movies were amazing and that he doesn’t understand the need for a reboot.

The ‘Harry Potter’ series, which has received a 10-year commitment from Max, is currently in development. Additionally, several members of the original film cast have already expressed their support for the project, including Daniel Radcliffe, Bonnie Wright, and Gary Oldman.

However, not everyone is on board. Jared Harris publicly criticized the idea of a TV series. Speaking to The Independent, Harris stated, “I don’t understand. The films were fantastic, leave them alone.” Despite his sentiment, Harris acknowledged that there is still much of the Harry Potter story to be told.

However, he believes that the films have already captured the essence of the wizarding world. His comments reflect a common sentiment among some fans who feel that the original films were a complete and satisfying adaptation of J.K. Rowling‘s novels.

Jared Harris also ruled out the possibility of taking on the role himself in the upcoming TV series. “No, thank you,” the actor stated. Despite his own impressive acting career, Harris has firmly stated that he is not interested in following in his father’s footsteps.

Moreover, the debate over whether or not a Harry Potter TV series is necessary has been ongoing since the announcement. Fans of the idea argue that it will allow for a deeper exploration of the characters and the world of Harry Potter.

They also point to the success of other fantasy TV series, such as ‘Game of Thrones’ and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, as evidence that there is a demand for high-quality fantasy content. Critics of the series, on the other hand, argue that the original films were already excellent adaptations of the books.

They claim that a TV series could potentially dilute the magic and wonder of the wizarding world. Regardless of one’s opinion on the Harry Potter TV series, it is clear that the franchise is far from over. Moreover, the series’ 10-year commitment suggests that Max is investing heavily in the project.
