On Tuesday, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos posted on Instagram that his Bezos Day One Family Fund will donate again this year to help the homeless find more permanent housing. He to Instagram to make this merry announcement saying so far the organization has given away “$500 million to 167 orgs”. The 58-year-old for the fifth consecutive year is contributing to the initiative he started with Bezos Day 1 Family Fund. The well-known philanthropist had last week shared with CNN that he will soon be giving away most of his $124 billion wealth within his lifetime. “The hard part is figuring out how to do it in a levered way,” he told the news network.
40 groups spread over the 26 States of the US would be the recipients of the generous amount of $123.45 million. Bezos Day One Family Fund aims “to help families move from unsheltered homelessness and shelters to permanent housing with the services they require to achieve stability.” The non-profit organization released the details of the 2022 grantees on its webpage. Bezos Dy One Family Fund commits to, “making meaningful and lasting impacts in two areas: funding existing non-profits that help families experiencing homelessness, and creating a network of new, non-profit tier-one preschools in low-income communities.”

Jeff Bezos To Give Away $123 Million To The Homeless
On the web page of Bezos Day One Family Fund announced the 2022 grantees comprising 40 groups from various 26 states in the United States and Puerto Rico. To name a few recipients, Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona, Tucson will receive $5 million, and Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, Texas will receive $5 million. YWCA Missoula’s Housing Programs, Missoula will be gifted $2.5 million, San Diego Regional Task Force on Homelessness, California will be granted $5 million.
The billionaire philanthropist related to CNN that he and his girlfriend, Láuren Sanchez find building a non-profit organization quite similar to building Amazon. He said, “It took a lot of hard work, a bunch of very smart teammates, hard-working teammates, and I’m finding — and I think Lauren is finding the same thing — that charity, philanthropy, is very similar.”
After the release of details of the donation, Jeff wrote on Instagram, “This year’s Bezos Day 1 Families Fund grants go to 40 incredible groups working to end homelessness in the U.S. In five years, we’ve given more than $500 million to 167 orgs – helping expand their support of families in need. Honored to support these groups.” People reported, Jeff Bezos is committed to bringing substantial change by taking measures to combat climate change and ” supporting others who can help improve the deep divide over social and political issues.”

Billionaire’s Other Charity Works
Like Meta Inc. founder Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos plans to give away most of his wealth. But the Amazon founder wants to ensure that such a big amount is not only donated but also brings a material change. He shared this fear in the CNN interview that there are many ways his donation might be “ineffective” if it is not done correctly. “So you have to think about it carefully and you have to have brilliant people on the team,” he told CNN. Jeff put together an advisory team of 13 people comprising Samantha Batko of Urban Institute, Iain DeJong of OrgCode Consulting Inc, David Dirks of Homebase, Mary Frances Kenion of ICF, and more.
Bezos’ other charity portfolio is Bezos Earth Fund which is co-chaired by Láuren Sanchez. The fund aims to utilize 8 percent of the billionaire which sums up to $10 billion. Through these resources, Bezos Earth Fund aims to bring environmental justice. The fund of $10 billion is dedicated to bringing change over the span of the decade and so far they granted $1.54 billion.
Earlier this month singer Dolly Parton was awarded $100 million under the Courage and Civility Award. Bezos posted on Instagram, “a woman who gives with her heart and leads with love and compassion in every aspect of her work.” The couple wishes, “We can’t wait to see all the good that you’re going to do with this $100 million award,”
