As the 2024 Presidential elections get nearer, several celebrities have opened up about their views on America’s political climate. Among others, Hayley Williams spoke up about Donald Trump while she was on iHeart Radio, and her statement got a brutal response from Elon Musk.
Musk has openly supported Trump unlike many other celebrities who have extended their support towards Kamala Harris. Here’s how Hayley responded to Musk’s statement and why she doesn’t support Trump.
Hayley Williams’ Anti Trump Tirade
While Paramore performed at the iHeart Radio festival, Hayley Williams took a moment to voice out her political stance. She urged fans to show up and vote and defeat the Trump agenda.
Wiliams said, “Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for the controlling and punishing of women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. It is time for all Americans to band together and to finally defeat the Trump agenda. And the only way to do that is by confronting him at the polls.”

Soon after, the clip went viral and an X user called out Hayley as an actor giving a “manufactured” speech. It didn’t receive much attention until Elon Musk, who has openly supported Trump, commented under that video and wrote, “So disappointing. Just another puppet in the machine.”
But Hayley wasn’t the one to shy away from giving a fitting response.
Hayley Williams Responds To Elon Musk’s Comment
Most users on X criticised Hayley Williams as the clip showed her reading the speech aloud from a piece of paper, leading to many calling it a paid act.
Williams took to Instagram to address the comments and wrote, “Whoever you are, I typed out my speech and had a crew member hold it near the camera for me in case I got nervous bc what I had to say was important and I didn’t want to trip up in the moment, didn’t end up looking at it though … that’s because I prepared.”
She continued, “finally, not only was i *not* paid to make the speech but we (paramore) didn’t get paid to play that radio fest either. just out here kicking ass for free i guess thanks so much for your concern and for spelling my name right, bye!”
