Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s relationship has been a whirlwind of fashion statements, musical masterpieces, and adorable children. However, what started out as a couple of goals quickly turned sour due to a lot of things.
Even though the couple looked to be deeply in love, there wasn’t always eye-to-eye agreement between the two. One such topic that became a matter of disagreement between the two was family size.

Kanye West Wanted Seven Kids With Kim Kardashian
In a 2018 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian revealed Kanye West‘s burning desire for a supersized family. Chatting with her friend Larsa Pippen, Kim, already a mom of three, confessed with a touch of exasperation, “He [Kanye] wants like seven. He’s been harassing me,” said Kim.
Larsa’s reaction mirrored that of many viewers, “Seven kids is crazy!” She said. This wasn’t the first time Kanye had expressed his baby bliss. In 2016, shortly after the birth of their son Saint, Kim opened up on Khloe Kardashian‘s show Kocktails with Khloe on US Weekly that Kanye Wanted More Kids After Saint’s Birth.
Back then, she admitted to feeling complete with two children, but Kanye just wouldn’t let the baby talk die down. “He’s been mentioning it every single day for the past 10 days,” she said with a hint of amusement. It seems Kanye’s desire for a big family was a persistent one!

Why Was Kim Against Having More Kids With Kanye West?
While Kanye was busy picturing a basketball team’s worth of little Wests, Kim had valid reasons for pumping the brakes. Safety concerns weighed heavily on her mind. The episode where Kanye’s baby fever was exposed aired not long after the horrific Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
Kim was deeply affected by the tragedy and expressed her fear about bringing more children into a world fraught with gun violence. “It literally keeps me up at night, thinking about how my kids will survive in a crazy world like this,” she confided in Larsa. Additionally, Kim’s career demanded a lot of her time, and with three young kids already, her schedule was jam-packed.
The physical demands of pregnancy and childbirth, especially after experiencing complications with previous pregnancies, were likely a factor as well. Ultimately, Kim and Kanye found a compromise. They welcomed their fourth child, Psalm, via surrogate in 2019. This solution allowed Kim to expand her family while prioritizing her health and career.
